Innovative initiative of alternative social services in the cultural environment of Amata region

The project will approach issues of human rights and combating of disability cosequences among youth living in Amata region. Simultaneously, the project work will provide education of a wide society and increase of understanding of problems, needs and potential of the basic target audience. By implementing innovative alternative activities of social inclusion, the project aims to improve opportunities of social rehabilitation in Amata region and dissemination of ideas on active social participation to support development of sustainable society in Vidzeme region. In the result of project work, 9 representatives of youth will acquire basic knowledge in ancient history of Latvia and educational work in museums, as well as they will learn practical skills in performing of ancient crafts. This will improve the capacity of the main target audience (new knowledge, skills, increased self-esteem and motivation) to join on equal basis the socio-economic life. The project results as good examples

Project results: The project provided innovative alternative opportunities of social inclusion to disabled youth. During 28 seminars 27 representatives of the target audience were trained by 5 skilled tutors. 9 of trainees afterwards for 24 days all summer long presented crafts demonstrations at Āraiši Archaeological Museum Park that was visited at that time by 1628 quests. The experience acquired was disseminated among target audience during 2 experience exchange seminars. The project work accumulated a rich information on the details of the training process and crafts demonstrations (798 questionnaires, individual and 37 group discussion) that was included in the Final Paper, as well as 28 training plans and 6 presentations that would be handful to those aiming provide similar activities in the future. These materials are available at the project internet home page - www.alternate.lv. With the help of travelling exhibition produced and final seminar, the project also approached indirect audiences such as teachers of boarding schools with special needs, museums visitors, museum staff and local authorities in order to provide the project sustainability.
