Implementation of project “SENIORS’ WALK” is planned to be carried out between January 1st 2011 and June 30th 2012. Women Rights Institute and cooperation partners Association of Women micro-enterprices, Center of psychological comfort, Jaunjelgava Initiative Center, Latvian Locksmith Brotherhood, Municipality of Talsi district, Municipality of Jēkabpils district, Municipality of Pļaviņas district, Municipality of Jaunjelgava district, Municipality of Varakļāni district, Municipality of Aloja district, Municipality of Rucava district and Switzerland - Baltic Help Committee (Schweizerisch – Baltisches Hilfskomitee), attracting Municipality of Nereta district and Municipality of Cesvaine district as well, will promote with this project civil society investment in decrease of economical and social difference with activities that will improve quality of life for 400 seniors, including 80% women, sustaining capacity of non-governmental organisations of Latvia in Vidzeme, Latgale, Sēlija and Kurzeme.
There are following direct goals set in this project, an achievement of which will provide suitable activities in districts of Rīga, Talsi, Jēkabpils, Pļaviņas, Jaunjelgava, Varakļāni, Aloja, Rucava, Nereta and Cesvaine, Münchenstein, Region of Basel, in Switzerland, Germany, Hungary and Norway:
- To promote active civil participation of seniors and to create a linkage among seniors involved in state, municipality and NGO to make joint decisions, providing training for 200 seniors in development of policy and supervision, participation with their representatives in development of 12 normative acts, 20 informative arrangements about social needs as well as in 40 meetings and work groups;
- To steady capacity of Women Rights Institute and cooperation partners Association of Women micro-businesses, Center of psychological comfort, Jaunjelgava Initiative Center, Latvian Locksmith Brotherhood that are managed by more than 50% seniors, by improving knowledge of 400 seniors in trainings of management of organizations, development of civil society, partnership and development of cooperation network;
- To promote strengthening of security for 280 seniors, providing training, accessibility to information for seniors as well as mutual cooperation for psychological, legal, physical and technical self-defence;
- To promote development of lifetime education for 200 seniors, providing training of work with modern technologies for seniors;
- To promote decrease of social castaway and poverty of seniors, providing training of development of interest groups, promotion of active ageing, development of new services and business for seniors involved in Women Rights Institute and cooperation partners Association of Women micro-businesses, Center of psychological comfort, Jaunjelgava Initiative Center, Latvian Locksmith Brotherhood.
For implementation of Project Women Rights Institute is planning to attract funding of NGO foundation of Latvia – Switzerland 82 800,00 LVL (90%) and to invest co-funding of partner organizations 9200,00 LVL (10%), including work of volunteers in kind for 4572,00 LVL (4,97%).
